Configuration of the Internet Service providers (ISP)
An In ter net Ser vi ce Pro vi der (ISP) pro vi des you with an »en tran ce por tal« to the In ter net. A dis tincti on is made bet -
ween ISPs with whom you have a con tract (for ex am ple T-On li ne) and In ter net-by-call pro vi ders that bill you
through your pho ne bill (for ex am ple Freenet).
The ac cess me thod does not de pend on how ra tes are char ged; this can be done ba sed on time or on vo lu me, for ex -
am ple.
You can use your PABX sys tem to set up an In ter net con nec ti on via ISDN dial-up con nec tions (using PPP pro to col,
with one or two ISDN B chan nels, i.e. at 64 or 128 kBit/s).
To set up the se ty pes of con nec tions you need the fol lo wing ac cess data: the num ber to be di aled, the user name, the
pass word and, whe re re qui red, ot her in for ma ti on, such as IP ad dress for the name ser ver.
Configuring the PCs
IP ad dres ses
The PABX sys tem is con fi gu red with a de fault IP ad dress of 192.168.1.250 and the DCHP ser ver in te gra ted into the
PABX is ac ti vat ed, mea ning that any PCs con nec ted to the sys tem must be set so that they au to ma ti cal ly re cei ve their
IP ad dress from the PABX sys tem. This mode is re com men ded to dis pen se with the com pli ca ted, ma nu al con fi gu ra -
ti on of the IP ad dres ses for the PC that would ot her wi se be re qui red. The fol lo wing IP-ad dres ses are avail able:
IP ad dress for the PABX 192.168.1.250
IP ad dress for the PC con nec ted to the USB-port 192.168.1.50
IP-ad dres ses for RAS-ac cess 1 92.168.1.72-192.168.1.73

Internet-by-Call
You can use the In ter net-by-Call ser vi ce if you do not wish to con clu de a fi xed con tract with a pro vi der (ISP) for your
In ter net con nec ti on. Any char ges for this will then be lis ted on your te le pho ne bill. You can also con fi gu re In ter -
net-by-Call in ad di ti on to an exi sting con tract you may have with a pro vi der (for ex am ple, T-On line).
You can ea si ly chan ge the or der of the ISPs with which the In ter net con nec ti on is to be set up (»Fall back or der« down
/ up). You can also set the num ber of and in ter vals bet ween the se at tempts at set ting up an In ter net con nec ti on for
each ISP that has been con fi gu red. When the wai ting pe ri od bet ween the at tempts ex pi res and when the con fi gu red
num ber of ac tu al at tempts is rea ched and no con nec ti on has been estab lis hed, the next ISP in the list is se lected.
Con nec ti on to the In ter net is al ways set up au to ma ti cal ly by the PABX sys tem when a data pa cket is to be sent to the
In ter net. This oc curs au to ma ti cal ly when you en ter http: //www. bin tec-el meg.com in your browser for ex am ple.
Note
Au to ma tic con nec ti on to the In ter net can also be de-ac ti vat ed in the PABX con fi gu ra ti on. In this case you must then
in itia te se tup of every In ter net con nec ti on via the Con trol Cen ter (Page 2).
Bil ling of the costs is made through the te le pho ne bill from your net work pro vi der.
Discontinuing an Internet connection
· Click the »Con trol Cen ter« sym bol lo ca ted in the task bar and then se lect »Dis con nect«.
· Af ter a set time (which can be de fi ned), du ring which the re is no data traf fic to the In ter net, the
con nec ti on is ter mi na ted au to ma ti cal ly.
